As time goes by, we accumulate more baggage
through pain, heartache, grief and trauma.
Some people shrug it off without much care.
Others, like myself, find the pain hard to bear.
So, the baggage gets heavier with each passing day,
like carrying around a trunk full of clay.
Hoping one day it will lighten.
Or perhaps we can find someone to help us unpack,
someone who will listen to our life
story with all its disasters,
without turning their back,
because we all carry baggage.
We all come with scars.
You will not get through life without
either of these things.
We are, after all, just human beings.
Here for a short time before we return home.
Where we once again become spirits
and are free to roam.
To roam and be free without life's burdens.
