Collateral Damage
(Chapter 2: Behind Closed Doors)
Collateral Damage
A flick switched.
The atom splits.
Residue sticks like mucus membrane on your skin.
Gas lit.
An enemy is poisoning your brain with words cruel and unkind.
Only this is not a game.
It is a crime.
You try to take shelter from the blast whilst living in fear of what might come next.
You are merely collateral damage.
You have no chance against this.
But if you ever manage to walk free of the wreckage, do not think this war will end.
For years to come, you will still be licking your wounds, trying to heal and mend.
