Daisy chains remind me of youth's bright days.
In fields of innocence, we played.
Too young to understand what might
lie ahead on our life path.
In school, they taught us maths as if that
would prepare us for heartbreak and loss.
We were sacrificial lambs offered to the world
while wolves circled.
We cried until silenced.
And when the daisy chains broke, we realised
our happiest days were behind us.
