I rebuilt myself from scratch
with no infantry at my back.
You see, I once was a sacrificial lamb.
A vessel for the poisonous tongue
of a man.
Too young to understand this was not love.
And then the dam burst.
I could die or transform.
Hence, the lioness in me was born.
Not with intent to maim, only for
strength, my life to reclaim.
I am wiser now.
I will defend my territory if you
overstep my boundaries.
I call that self-respect.
I did not come this far to return to
that old version of me.
So accept me as is, or take your leave.
