Looking back at “Once Upon A Time”, I feel it was not a great collection ( but it was still an improvement on Madness of Corona”.
At that time, I did like to insert humour into my work because I never wanted the reader to be consumed with gloom.
I got the cover completely wrong ( changing it later ), I also got it very wrong with “Me and my Shadow” and I changed that as well.
I would say that “Once Upon A Time” is a collection for women.
It is written by a woman who has faced many battles ( most of them alone ).
When I write I do always hope that my words resonate with someone and that they can take something from them.
I also realise that everyone interprets things differently as well.
“Demons” I would say is one of the stronger poems in this collection.
Demons
In the darkest recesses of your mind, that is where your demons hide, an abyss full of bullshit, self-doubt and lies.
You can run, you can hide, but there is no escape.
The only way is to sit with your demons and let them play.
Let the venom of their words pierce your skin and run through your veins.
Succumb to the numbness and the pain.
It is the only way you will ever escape from the abyss and see the light again.

I have copies of all my books at home and I have typed this out from “Once Upon A Time”.
Obviously I was not using Grammarly back then!
( Like I said, I am very honest )
