When tears of sorrow escape from eyes,
the earth cries, too.
It's once fertile soil, now stained
red with blood shed.
No amount of tears will erase the
scars.
Man's inhumanity to man, without
justifiable excuse.
We cannot say they know not what they do.
Each weapon, whether words
or a gun, leaves a mark on
the fabric of life, depriving it of love.
Until we, too, become soiled.
The collateral damage of wars that do not belong to us.
