Why subscribe

I am Maggie Watson, an Indie Author and Poet based in

Scotland.

My writing journey began in 2020 at the start of the pandemic.

I think we can all agree it was a very period (more so

I would say for anyone with mental health problems or living alone)

Putting pen to paper helped me cope with

the total sense of despair and isolation I felt at the time.

In December 2020, a publishing house released "The Madness of Corona" (my work).

I prefer not to talk about that book, but we all started somewhere!

I knew I could do better, and I wanted to do better!

In 2021, I self-published my first collection, "Me and my Shadow" and "Once Upon a Time".

Looking back, I was more interested

in the achievement factor than

concentrating on my writing!

Fast forward to now (2024),I am far prouder

of my work, and I have my fellow writers

on WP to thank for that, plus my time spent on IG.

My muse is anything that pops into my head basically,

though I do draw a lot on my life experiences.

This year (2024) I released “Pieces of Me” my sixth collection.

“Pieces of Me” is a very important collection of poems, not only for myself, but for every other person who has been the victim of DOMESTIC ABUSE.

The statistics on DOMESTIC ABUSE do not make good reading!

Yet it still remains a taboo subject, and that saddens me

I am a DOMESTIC ABUSE SURVIVOR and I hope that by raising my voice

(which was silenced for so long), more people will sit up and take notice!

There is no stereotypical victim, or abuser for that matter (though I believe generational trauma has a lot to do with it, as does alcohol and drugs).
